Summary Mycobacterium marinum is difficult to diagnose Ugeskr Læger 2012;174(50):3176-3177 The diagnosis of cutaneous Mycobacterium marinum infection is often delayed for months after presentation. In this case the diagnosis and correct treatment was delayed for ten months resulting in possible irreversible damage to the patient's infected finger. The main reason for the delay is lack of knowledge of the mycobacterium.
