Hans Viggo Skjeldborg Johannsen:
Treatment of traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation
Ugeskr Læger 2019;181:V08180563
The treatment of traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation involves consideration of the pathoanatomy, natural history and the more recent evaluation of treatment outcomes. The main purpose of treatment is to minimise the risk of recurrent instability and secondary degenerative arthrosis. There are several risk factors to consider; hyperlaxity, glenoid bone loss, young age and participation in contact or shoulder demanding sports. In high-risk patients a Latarjet procedure is safer than an arthroscopic Bankart repair.
