Possible association between diet and depression
A growing body of evidence is demonstrating an association between dietary patterns, food and nutrient intake with mental health including development of depression. This review of the literature includes 15 studies. Results indicate that dietary patterns characterized by higher levels of anti-inflammatory and nutrient-rich foods are associated with a reduced risk of the development of depressive disorders. Implementations in the healthcare system are recommen­ded to counter this negative development.
